FVB shares expertise at global energy conference
The International District Energy Associations (IDEA) annual conference and trade show is being held in Ottawa, Canada, this year. FVB will be making several presentations, including Bernt Andersson talking about Varberg Energi’s district heating initiative.
IDEA is an umbrella trade association founded in 1909, with nearly 3,000 members in over 30 countries. This year’s conference and exhibition take place 23–26 June with the theme ‘Connecting Networks’. Personnel from FVB’s offices in Sweden, the USA and Canada will be holding a total of five presentations.
Bernt Andersson from FVB’s office in Västerås will talk about Varberg Energi’s investment in district cooling, using geocooling from the sea and surplus heat from the pulp mill Södra Cell Värö. This form of cooling production is up to five times more efficient than the systems currently used by customers.
“This is a model project for innovative and broad-based collaboration within urban planning. It also confirms Varberg’s leadership within modern and eco-friendly energy solutions,” says Bernt Andersson.
IDEA is also arranging study visits in Ottawa, where the state-owned energy company has undertaken an extensive upgrade and expansion of its one-hundred-year-old district heating and cooling system. FVB was responsible for implementation and has advised on commercialisation.
